Riverfront Renewal Brings New Life to Downtown

The City is proud to celebrate the completion of the Riverfront Renewal Project, a multi-year effort aimed at reconnecting residents with one of our community’s most treasured natural assets. What was once an underused stretch of land has been transformed into a vibrant public space featuring walking trails, green areas, and scenic overlooks that highlight the river’s natural beauty. The project was guided by extensive community input, with residents sharing ideas through public meetings, surveys, and workshops. As a result, the renewed riverfront now includes amenities designed for all ages, such as playground equipment, shaded seating, and improved accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists. Local artists also contributed to the space, adding murals and sculptures that reflect the city’s history and culture. Beyond recreation, the Riverfront Renewal Project is already having a positive economic impact. Nearby businesses are seeing increased foot traffic, and the area has become a popular destination for community events, from weekend farmers markets to outdoor concerts. City leaders anticipate that the revitalized riverfront will continue to attract visitors and encourage responsible development in the surrounding neighborhoods. The City invites everyone to explore the renewed riverfront and take part in upcoming events scheduled throughout the year. This project stands as a reminder of what can be achieved when residents, local organizations, and city staff work together toward a shared vision for the future.

Mysterious Clown Juggles at Central Intersection

A talented clown has been spotted juggling three balls at the central intersection of our town. Despite his impressive skills, he only juggles three balls and never adds more. Adding to the mystery, he only crosses the street when the light changes. No one knows why he chooses to perform here, but his act has become a curious sight for many residents. The clown's routine is simple yet captivating. He stands at the intersection, skillfully tossing and catching the three balls. His performance has drawn the attention of passersby, who are intrigued by his unusual choice of location and the mystery behind his actions. While the reason for his choice of location remains unknown, the clown's talent and dedication to his craft have made him a local curiosity. Whether he will continue his unique performances or move on to another location is yet to be seen.

Hillside Gardeners Market Returns This Sunday

Green thumbs, curious cooks, and anyone who appreciates a good tomato are in for a treat this weekend as the Hillside Gardeners Market returns to the town square this Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The beloved outdoor market, now in its 12th year, is expected to draw dozens of local growers and plant enthusiasts — not to mention the crowds who come solely for the free herb samples. Market coordinator Jonah Reeves says this year’s vendor list is the most diverse yet. “We’ve got heirloom vegetable growers, native plant specialists, backyard orchardists, and even someone selling ‘therapeutic moss balls.’ People get really passionate about their plants, and we love that.”

Local Library Hosts Weekend Book Fair

The downtown public library welcomed readers of all ages this weekend for its annual community book fair. The event featured discounted books, author meet-and-greets, and reading activities designed to encourage literacy and a love of learning. Visitors browsed tables filled with donated novels, children’s books, and nonfiction titles, with proceeds benefiting library programs. Local authors were on hand to discuss their work and sign copies, while librarians hosted story times throughout the day. Library staff said the fair was well attended and highlighted the community’s strong support for local resources. Organizers plan to continue the tradition next year, with hopes of expanding activities and participation.

Hello there

We don't even need images

This is a fun note that we don't even need to attach images to a story anymore. Isn't that exciting? Sometimes there are stories out there where a picture doesn't tell a thousand words. Only like, 15, max. And at that point you may as well just type it out. So yea, no images here!

Stories After Sunset

The Brookside Library invites the community to its upcoming “Stories After Sunset” event this Friday at 6:30 p.m. Families can enjoy an evening of outdoor storytime, lawn games, and a craft table under the café lights on the library lawn. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs, and the first 50 attendees will receive a free bookmark designed by local students. The event is free and open to all ages.

Neighborhood Clean-Up Brings Volunteers Together

Dozens of volunteers gathered early Saturday morning to take part in a neighborhood clean-up aimed at improving local parks and streets. Equipped with gloves and trash bags, participants worked in teams to collect litter and spruce up shared public spaces. The effort was organized by a local civic group in partnership with the city, focusing on high-traffic areas and playgrounds. Organizers said the goal was not only to beautify the neighborhood, but also to encourage community pride and involvement. By midday, volunteers had filled several dumpsters with debris and recyclables. Many participants said they were proud of the visible results and looked forward to helping again at future clean-up events.

MAYOR OF NIBLEY CITY

Mayor Larry Jacobsen

I am humbled and honored to be Nibley City’s Mayor. I came to Cache Valley 43 years ago to attend Utah State, and my wife, Becky Yeager, and I moved to Nibley 25 years ago where we raised our two daughters, Taylor and Brooke. I have enjoyed a rewarding career as an electrical engineer, with the last thirty years at Campbell Scientific. Becky and I love the strong and vibrant community that we share with Nibley Citizens, and we have tried to help build that community. Counting the time on the Planning Commission and City Council, I have spent 19 years on Nibley governance. These days, I am splitting time between engineering and being the Mayor for Nibley City.

My goal as mayor is simple. Help make you proud to live in Nibley.

Meet Our Mayor

You are my boss, and I am always interested in hearing from the boss. Please call me, text me, or send me an email.

Mayor Profile:

Meet Mayor Sam Finklebaum, a dedicated public servant who has quickly made his mark on our city. Sam is deeply committed to his family, cherishing time with his wife Sherry and their two daughters, Monica and Bella. His love for his family is matched only by his passion for his corgi, a devotion that some might say borders on the extreme.

Before becoming Mayor, Sam had a brief but notable career as the city's Librarian. During his time in this role, he attempted to implement a reverse-Dewey Decimal System, an innovative but ultimately unsuccessful endeavor that led to his departure from the library. Despite this setback, Sam's dedication to public service remained unwavering.

After his time at the library, Sam transitioned into city government and quickly rose through the ranks. His leadership skills and commitment to the community were evident, and he was appointed Mayor just four months into his civil service career. Sam's rise to Mayor showcases his ability to adapt and excel in various roles within city administration.

As Mayor, Sam has been focused on improving city services and fostering a sense of community. He has worked on several initiatives aimed at enhancing public spaces, supporting local businesses, and ensuring that the needs of all residents are met. His hands-on approach and willingness to listen to community feedback have earned him respect and admiration from many.

Outside of his professional life, Sam enjoys spending time with his family. Whether it's a weekend outing with Sherry and the girls or a cozy evening at home with his beloved corgi, Sam values the simple joys of family life. His love for his dog is particularly noteworthy, often described as bordering on the obsessive by those who know him.

Sam's tenure as Mayor has been marked by a commitment to transparency and inclusivity. He regularly holds town hall meetings and community forums to engage with residents and gather input on city initiatives. This open approach has helped build trust and strengthen the bond between the city government and its citizens.

In summary, Mayor Sam Finklebaum is a passionate and dedicated public servant who has quickly become a beloved figure in our city. His journey from Librarian to Mayor showcases his resilience and commitment to making a positive impact. Whether he's working on city projects or enjoying time with his family, Sam's love for his community shines through in everything he does.

Proper Angled Parking

Proper angled parking is important for safety and efficiency. Park your car at a 45-degree angle in the designated space, facing forward. Make sure your vehicle is fully within the lines and not blocking other spaces. Facing forward is best because it allows you to see oncoming traffic, which helps ensure smooth traffic flow and reduces the risk of accidents. Parking in reverse can make it harder to see traffic and may lead to more collisions.
